Run a Race Tournament Night

Run qualifying, sprints and finals on the venue's simulators, from check-in to the final result.

Use this for a tournament Event such as Noć Formule: ten drivers on five simulators, two qualifying Blocks, four sprints and two finals.

You work on two screens:

  • Program (organization dashboard → the Event): who drives in each Block, and the buttons that start each session. Open a Program row to get its Race control page.
  • Event page (venue dashboard → Schedule → the Event): tickets, payments, the simulator tablets, and On the simulators now, which shows who sits on which simulator.

The Program decides who drives; the venue decides on which simulator. The TV and each tablet show where to sit, and the server keeps each grid place on that simulator. Drivers must sit where the TV tells them.

For private nights, linked bookings supply the simulators. Cancelling, moving or ending a booking early changes the pool for the next heat; the running heat keeps its assigned simulators and drivers. Moving the booking's time does not hide that heat from the tablets. Close night still returns them to normal use.

Before the evening

Do this once, during the afternoon.

  1. In the Program, turn off Start blocks automatically at planned times. Nothing then starts by the clock; every session waits for you.
  2. In the Event page, open Setup → Equipment reservation. Set Until to at least an hour after the planned end and select Reserve equipment. This keeps a late night from colliding with other bookings.
  3. In the Program, select Points standings. Under Equal sprint points, choose the sprint points table and Qualifying, then select Save points tie-break. Check that the table counts all four sprints.
  4. In the venue dashboard, check that Settings › Race servers shows the server online and that all five simulators are online with the event's car and track.
  5. Set up the TV: open Displays → New playlist → Add slide → Race event, choose the Event and select Create playlist. Then select Play on displays, choose the TV and save.

Start the night's servers only from the Program. Race Control's own start buttons are for ordinary venue races.

Check in the drivers

  1. In the Event page, Participants, find each arriving driver and collect anything shown as to collect.
  2. If someone else drives a ticket, select Change driver. To fix a name or email, select Edit details.
  3. Sell walk-ins with Sell tickets while places remain.

Finish ticket transfers before the first planned session start. After that time, ticket cancellation and buyer transfers are locked. Venue staff can still fix a guest's details or correct who actually drove the ticket.

The simulators' tablets switch to race night when the equipment reservation starts. To start earlier, select Start race night now in the Event page.

Draw qualifying

Draw only when everyone has checked in. The draw includes only the drivers entered at that moment.

  1. In the Program, Next: Draw qualifying shows each qualifying Block with its drivers, drawn at random.
  2. Select Draw again until it suits you, then select Apply draw.

To move one driver later, open each qualifying Block's Race field page, remove the driver from one list and add them to the other.

Run each step

The night is a list of steps: Qualifying 1, Qualifying 2, Sprint 1–4, Challenger final and Main final. Every step runs the same way.

  1. Open the step. For the first qualifying Block, select Start warm-up on its Race control page. After that, Next: … opens each step and starts its warm-up. The warm-up has no time limit.
  2. Sign the drivers in. In the Event page, under On the simulators now, select Sign in drivers. Every seat shows Signed in. You can do this whenever the current seating plan is ready, including before race night starts. The tablets show the race-night view when their mode is open.
  3. Seat and join. Drivers check the TV and sit at their simulator. In the Event page, select Connect drivers, or have each driver select Join … on their tablet. If the action names anyone who must use their tablet, have them join there. The Race control page shows Connected next to each name.
  4. Start the session. Select Start qualifying or Start race. If someone is still not connected, you are asked to confirm.
  5. Let it finish. The session ends on its own and the server stops by itself. When the page says Finished, select Next: …. If you move on while the last cars are still finishing, the race ends at once and keeps its result.

Before Sprint 1

When Qualifying 2 says Finished, prepare the sprints before you select Next:

  1. Open Results → each qualifying session, check it, then select Complete qualifying. Both Blocks rank together: each driver's best lap counts, wherever they drove. Equal times rank the driver who completed that lap first. If a tied result has no measured lap completion time, the existing qualifying order is retained for that tie.
  2. In the Program, Next: Seed sprints shows all four sprint grids from that qualifying order. Each sprint stage splits the field differently.
  3. Check the grids, then select Apply sprint grids.

All four sprint grids come from qualifying, so they are ready before Sprint 1.

Before the finals

When Sprint 4 says Finished, prepare the finals before you select Next:

  1. Open Points standings and check that every driver has points from all four sprints. A sprint whose result is not confirmed yet has no points until it is fixed (see below).
  2. In the Program, Next: Seed finals shows both finals from the sprint points. The final that runs last, the Main final, takes the top five.
  3. Check the finals, then select Apply finals.

The finals have their own qualifying. Select Start qualifying after the warm-up; the race follows automatically, with the grid set by that qualifying. Run the Challenger final first, then the Main final.

Review reported contacts

  1. In the Event's results, open a Session and select Contacts.
  2. Review the reporting driver, other car or environment, and receipt time. Separate reports may describe the same collision; a report alone does not establish fault or apply a penalty.
  3. If review is needed, log an incident in Stewarding, then return to Contacts and select Link to incident beside a relevant report.
  4. In Stewarding, open the incident's View contact reports control to check its attached evidence before recording a ruling.

Practice and qualifying contacts are retained too. Reports with an unknown Session are available in the server's contact history under Race Control's Server tab (or Overview for a standalone server). Contact history starts when the updated server agent is installed; older result files are not imported.

Save collision replays

Native Assetto Corsa servers can save playable collision clips. The server must use an updated Pista agent with collision recording support. Recording starts off for each new server run.

  1. In Race Control, open the selected server's Server tab. For a standalone server, open Overview.
  2. Under Collision replays, select Enable recording before drivers join. Drivers who are already connected must reconnect before their car can be recorded.
  3. Check that the status changes from Waiting for cars to Recording. Clips cover ten seconds before a contact and five seconds afterward; let recording run for ten seconds before testing a collision.
  4. After a wall or car contact above 5 km/h, wait for the clip to appear and select Download replay. Open the .acreplay in Content Manager on a computer with the matching car and track installed.
  5. Select Disable when recording is no longer needed. Saved clips remain available after recording stops and after the server run ends.

If the status remains Waiting for cars, reconnect the test driver. If it shows Recording interrupted, check the displayed reason and contact support with the server name and time. Collision recording does not restart the game server or apply sporting penalties.

End of the night

The last server stops by itself when the Main final's result is in. The TV then shows the Main final classification. In the Event page, select Close night to return the simulators to normal use.

On the public Event page, open Leaderboard. Sprint shows the points used to select the finals; Finals shows the finishing order, with the top final first and the lower finals after it. Finals do not add to sprint points.

When every result is right, and only if no more events follow in this competition, mark the competition complete in its General page. The TV then shows the final standings.

Award championship points

Use separate points systems when sprints award different points for selecting the finals and for the championship.

  1. In the competition's Points systems, create each sprint rule and select the sprint Sessions it reads. Keep the event's sprint table set to its seeding rule; set the overall championship table to its championship rules.
  2. For final finishing points, create a rule with Score what? set to Event final classification. Select every final race in each included Event, without the finals' qualifying Sessions. The main final supplies the leading places, followed by the lower finals. A third final follows the same order.
  3. Enter the points for the overall finishing places. To award one fastest-lap point across the finals, enter 1 under Fastest-lap bonus. This compares valid laps across the selected final races separately for each Event.
  4. Open the championship standings and check the counted points systems. Updating rules that already awarded points requires confirming recalculation.

Championship points do not change the recorded race results or the event's final classification. A bonus on an ordinary per-Session rule is awarded once in each selected Session instead.

Correct a guest after the event

  1. In the Event page, open the driver under Participants.
  2. Select Edit details to fix the current guest's name or email. If the email already belongs to a profile, select Use this profile to confirm it.
  3. To assign the existing racing to the actual driver's profile, select Correct driver, find the profile, and confirm. You can also select a new guest to correct an incorrect profile assignment.
  4. Check the driver's personal results and the event's points standings. The recorded laps and points now belong to the corrected driver.
